Field Trip!

Normally I stay the heck away from the Minnesota zoo for the entire month of May and the first two weeks in June.  Every single elementary school takes hundreds of kids to the zoo for their year-end field trip.  I will never forget the day I strolled into the zoo, as a nanny, behind 18 school buses.  YIKES. 

After a hot tip from my sister in law Molly we headed to the zoo around three.  Wow was this the best time to go!  Not a single school bus was left and most of the traffic was headed out of the entrance not in!

The main attraction that was in our sights for this trip was for Mikayla to be introduced to the goats.  To all of you, this may go immediately to the “lame” file…  However, I am one to be filled on simple pleasures and seeing my baby girl next to a goat ranks right up there with one that was sure to put a smile on my face. 

Off we strolled…

We were lucky enough to see a zoo employee feeding one of the moose right in front of the fence.  Meet Steve. What a great moose name…

She LOVED the goats.  The let me rub your face, grab your ear, take you home with me, kind of love. 

So I swallowed all germ fears and let her grab hold of the little goats.  We promptly washed her hands (more then once).  This project made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.  After we met the goats, we walked over to visit the cows.  Brent talked to Mallory about milking cows.  I held Mikayla and whispered in her ear that Cow’s milk is yuck-o and Goat’s milk is way better :)
