If Lucy could talk

If Lucy could talk (thank God she can't because if she took after the other three members of this family she most likely would never stop), but anyways if Lucy could have talked to me the other night she would have had a whole bunch to say...

She was almost out of dog food so Mallory and I headed to the pet store to buy the biggest bag we could buy. I used my pregnancy tummy to get some free help carrying the bag out to the van, thanked the nice young man and we went on our way. When we got home with the food I asked Gary if he could bring it in for me (for real, the 15 lb bag was just too much...KIDDING I bought the 50 lb bag, cut me a little slack). We keep Lucy's food in a Rubbermaid tub, transfer a bucket full and keep that in the cupboard (details details). He asked if I wanted him to throw away the last of the old dog food that had been left over from, who knows how many bags ago, as it laid on the bottom of the tub. I agreed that it was probably a good idea and since it was garbage night he took care of it right away.

He brought the tub up, the dog followed. He threw the old food away and brought the empty tub in by the laundry sink, the dog sat patiently waiting at his feet. He set it down, put the lid on and was going to clean it out after dinner. The dog sat in front of the bin, turned towards us and cried and cried..."If this is your way of kicking me out I am not okay with this..." Sick of the crying he cleaned the tub out and set it on the floor, the crying continued... "Seriously you better not be putting me out with the garbage tonight. A clean tub of no dog food can only mean one thing and it is not looking good for me."

He brought the bag of dog food inside and her tail went crazy. He dumped the big bag into the tub and we let her sniff it just to show her that she was in fact staying. She looked at the tub, looked at me, looked back at the tub. I gave her the "it's ok" she was patiently waiting for and she dug her head into the tub and started eating. A few mouthfuls later and we moved the tub back downstairs. Lucy looked a bit relieved and was glad that the stressful ordeal of almost being kicked out of the house was over...
