Knee Deep

We are knee deep in the holiday season and it has been (and continues to be) tons of fun.  Lots of fun, but also, already, exhausting.

We had Mallory’s preschool Christmas program on Sunday.  Watching a bunch of 3 and 4 year olds singing songs about Christmas and resisting very important memorized lines was adorable.  I could pick Mallory’s voice out of the crowd of kids as they sang their songs.  She was asked to give a special smile to show off her two missing teeth, with a little coaxing and a description of “stage fright” she smiled big and proud.

Later that day Abbie, Jenny, and Jeff came over for our 2nd annual Gingerbread building day.  Mallory loved it. She tasted her way through all of the decorations and has quite the style of home decorating.  The houses are proudly (still standing) on our buffet, helping ring in the Christmas season.  Mallory has attempted to eat a piece of the candy decorations each day since Sunday. Abbie came with a gingerbread cookie shirt that read “Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice” What an adorable baby!

The final products!  The four year old perfection is priceless.

Monday, Kate and I donned our Elf hats and went and shopped for my parents. Starting the day off with the excitement of spending someone else’s money was great—7 hours later, when we wrapped up the shopping, I was exhausted.

This weekend we have the annual Christmas Cookie Bake at Norris Square with my mom and all the residents of the Hearth.  A separate special post to come on that in a few days…

Sunday.  Watch out.  Sunday we take the kids to see Santa.  Mallory has been changing her mind on the one gift she wants to ask Santa for every single day since she found out she could only ask for one.  Mikayla has no clue what to expect.  We have been showing her pictures of Santa…but she has no idea what will take place.  A separate, sure to be hilarious, post will come after Sunday.
