So I get it. Some babies walk as early as 8 months old and are running, climbing and jumping by the age of 13 months. Though Mikayla has been climbing for months, she is just on the verge of really walking. In the end, no matter what the age a new walker, this moment is fleeting. They stumble-stumble-trip for such a short time before they are balanced and graceful.
As clearly as a first breath, first bath or a baby slither, the first walk video holds a special place in my heart. I can still picture the outfit and the place in our old house when an 11 month old Mallory toddled her first steps towards me…it feels like just yesterday.
