Middle of the night woes...

Mallory was up in the middle of the night last night for about an hour and a half. No real reason, she just whines and cries and tosses and turns.

I went in there to rub her back and to see what she needed and she rolled over and said "I need to go potty." Now, this is Mallory's 'I need a drink of water' routine. She knows it will get her out of bed, buying her a few more precious minutes of non sleep time. Well it doesn't work in the middle of the night with a 1/2 awake mommy at her bedside (and she is still wearing diapers, no where closer to being potty trained than she was 3 months ago). So I said to her "Mallory the potty is sleeping, everybody is sleeping. It is time to go to sleep." She said back to me (now remember this is 12:00 AM) "The potty is not sleeping. The potty doesn't have eyes, or lips or a nose or a mouth. The potty doesn't sleep." I shake my head, say "You're right. The potty doesn't sleep, but you need to. Now roll over and grab elephant. Goodnight Baby, Mommy loves you."

I stumble out of the room, slip into my bed hoping that she is off to dreamland until the sun comes up, and then think to myself--blog moments even happen in the middle of the night when you are living with a toddler.

Oh man, I know how you feel---I was up in the middle of the night with Hughie last night! We had a little Animal Emergency Hospital scare.

I got so tired that I got a second wind and became awake again. It's 1:02 AM and my "overtired second wind" is finally going away so I can sleep...

Here's hoping you're both sound asleep tonight!
