Well, we have had a revelation of sorts around here the past couple days. Mallory went to her very first "friend" birthday party this weekend. We came home and as I was changing her diaper I was talking to her about one day her using the big girl potty, saying goodbye to diapers--my usual conversation during changes. This time I decided to throw it out there that Lacey (her birthday friend) was three years old and she wore big girl underwear...let's just say I continued on and on and milked it for all that it was worth. Mallory then replied that she wanted to wear big girl underwear and use the potty. We picked out a pair of underwear from her drawer and we decided that the next morning we would ditch the diapers during the day (she still wears them to sleep in). Sunday morning came and "tada" here we are 36 hours later and the daytime diapers are gone!!!!! YEAH!!!! She had 2 accidents Sunday and today (as of 6:30 pm) we are *so far* accident free!!!
This truly is, and continues to be, another right of passage into parenthood...I am learning as we go and thanks for all the advice given from those around me. I am waiting for our 'one step back' as we have had many steps forward today. I cannot even begin to describe how proud I am of her. She really gets it this time. She wants nothing to do with letting her underwear get wet and she runs to the potty when she has to go. Today she told me that she was all done wearing diapers during the day. Done.
