A day in the life of Lucy

We have a great dog. We really do. She is a beagle mixed with some Eskimo and is full of love to anybody who wants to pet her tummy. Lucy spends most of her days basking in whatever sun she can find. Her favorite spot to snooze is on the deck--no matter what the temperature she just wants to be outside. Unless of course there are too many bugs. Lucy hates flying bugs. She is certain that they are either going to bite her tail or crawl up her butt. No, she has never said these words to me, she just snaps at whatever bug comes in close distance to her beloved hind end.

The past few mornings as I was making the bed I realized that Lucy had been spending a fair amount of time under the bed. Usually this means she is chewing on something she should not be. In the past it has been old Kleenexes, underwear (I know I know its gross...I'm glad I don't have the cravings of a dog), the 'thrown to the side' stuffed animals of Mallory's. Well, a few days ago I heard a bit of a crunching coming from under the bed. Oh no--this could be doing some damage. I tried to weasel Lucy out, but alas she knows the breakdown of the dimensions of the bed. It's as though she has thought this all out..."If my mom is 5 feet tall and this bed is 7 feet wide, all I have to do is position myself right in this spot and she will not be able to reach me. Just don't forget to tuck your tail so she doesn't use it as a handle" Fine I say to her--telling her to just wait until her father gets home.

Brent takes control and gets Lucy to surrender from under the bed. He then grabs a coat hanger and begins to fish out all of the treasures that Lucy has so proudly stowed away under the bed.

Busted.

Clockwise: Lucy, a used SOS pad (this she was actually found chewing on outside while Gary was washing the cars), chap stick (the black 'original' flavor), dental floss (hey at least the vet will be happy to hear she is working on good dental hygiene), a plastic snack bowl, and a Ritz cracker wrapper.

Dogs, ya gotta love em.

Hughie does the exact same thing.

He absolutely adores all of the above mentioned things (minus the scrubbing pad...I can't say he's gotten ahold of one of those yet, only because I don't clean enough!). His favorite thing of all time is by far chapstick. Do not put chapstick on and then lay down where Hughie can reach you. He WILL smell it, and he WILL lick absolutely every bit off of your lips.

His next favorite is pens. He has only gotten ink ALL OVER THE PLACE once.

Must...love...dogs. :)
