I am sure I speak for most everybody when I say that I am so glad warm weather is finally here! Mallory and I have started a tour of the parks around Woodbury. We have made it two different parks so far and I can already tell we are both going to learn to be quite the pair of park critics.
The first one introduced Mallory to the tire swing. She saw a three year old little boy spinning away and she wanted on--now whether it was because of the cute boy or the swing we will never know... She continued to play for over an hour with the other kids running around like they were her best of friends. When we left she said "Buh Bye Guy! Have fun!"
When we walked up to the second park she said with much enthusiasm "oooohhhhhh this park has sand!", as she bent down and let the sand slide through her fingers. This second park was a little bit older and built more for bigger kids. However this park had swings. She wanted to swing right away. I put her in the bucket swing, and gave her a few little pushes. Then I asked her if she wanted to go really high and she was all for it. I gave her a big push and she squealed and giggled so hard she couldn't even talk (which is surprising for Mallory).
I kept pushing her and she kept laughing, she was having so much fun I thought I should try swinging in the swing next to her (if she enjoyed it so much why shouldn't I??). I pumped and pumped and got pretty high--we were both laughing...until I realized that now, swinging in my late 20's, makes me feel dizzy and kind of nauseous. I got off, hobbled over to Mallory and kept my feet planted firmly on the ground while I lived vicariously through her as she laughed and laughed as she rode on the swing.
I think Mallory will have me sticking closer to the sidelines than last summer. I am realizing as she gets a little older, she is needing me a little bit less. She doesn't want to ride down the slide on my lap anymore, she only wants me to hold her hand. She wants to run around with the other kids and tells mommy that I can sit down and rest...Gee thanks Mallory.
Here's to more warm weather and more fun adventures at the park!
