Pickin’ Berries

Our neighbors were nice enough to give us a few flats of strawberry plants a couple of months ago.  He is a big gardener and cautioned me that they would probably need a season to get used to the new spot and would most likely not produce any strawberries.  Something magical happened with the transition, the dirt, and the weather because we have enjoyed a whopping six (6!) strawberries and we have a few more turning red.  They are better tasting than I could have imagined.

We picked two ripe strawberries.  I gave one to Mallory and one to Mikayla.  The following picture speaks volumes…

Mallory, never a fan of new foods. Mikayla, always willing to try something new and tasty.  Mallory maybe, maybe nibbled a bite the size a mouse would take and proclaimed she didn’t like it. Mikayla gobbled her berry down in seconds and gladly took Mallory’s nibbled one off of her hands. She kept saying, “Mommy, dese so yummy!”
