Sandy Lake is open for business

Saturday we headed up to Sandy Lake to open up the Crandall Cabin. This job usually entails a whole lot of cleaning and not much fun. Not this year. We did our fair share of cleaning, though Kate did the majority inside. Brent and Gary took care of the outside; mowing lawn, sweeping off the cabin, and getting the dock and the boat put in the water. Once the cleaning was done we were able to head outside and enjoy the weather.

Gary got the "party barge" up and running once again! Mallory took a few zips around the lake on the boat. Just like she knows her helmet protects her head when she is on her bike, she is also quite aware that her life jacket protects her on the boat. She wouldn't let my dad drive away without it zipped and buckled. Now I can say this without a shadow of a doubt, BabyTwo will fight us tooth and nail to wear any sort of protective gear...

"GRANDPA! Come and get me!!!"

Fishing was next on the list. Mallory had dug up some of her worm friends from home and brought them all the way up to the cabin to use as fish bait. From the moment she saw her fishing rod until the last fish was caught her smile never left her face. She dug the worms out of the bucket, pulled in the big sunnies, and touched their slimy bellies. This mom loves that she has a kid who loves to get dirty...

Now all we need are a few free weekends and some beautiful weather to enjoy the cabin....
